چکیده

We explore the interplay between various interaction and hopping terms, in particular the e8'ect of O-O hopping, t» on the charge instabilities and phase separation in the three-band extended Hubbard models. Within a weak-coupling mean-field approach, we find that in two dimensions (2D), t» moves the phase separation boundary appreciably to higher dopings. This would increase the window of doping over which charge-transfer-mediated superconductivity can occur. Considering a larger phase space, we also obtain a more complete picture of the coexistence lines and spinodal decompositions, and determine the charge-transfer-instability critical point. We also consider the 1D case: t» is found to play a similar role, but the phase separation occurs at significantly lower dopings compared to 2D. This may be of interest to recent Monte Carlo calculations.

Phase separation and valence instabilities in cuprate superconductors. Effective one-band model approach. Abstract We study the Cu-O valence instability (VI) and the related phase separation (PS) driven by Cu-O nearest-neighbor repulsion U pd , using an effective extended one-band Hubbard model (H ef f) obtained from the extended three-band Hubbard model, through an appropriate low-energy reduc...

Signatures of spin-charge separation in the 1D organic conductor TTF-TCNQ from photoelectron spectroscopy

We have studied the electronic structure of the quasi-one-dimensional organic conductor TTFTCNQ by angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES). The data reveal significant discrepancies to conventional band theory. Instead the experimental dispersions can be quantitatively reproduced by the one-dimensional (1D) Hubbard model, if one allows for a surface-enhancement of the hopping integral...

Effect of the next-nearest neighbor hopping on the stability and band structure of the incommensurate phases in the cuprates

Using a spin-rotation invariant version of the slave-boson approach we investigate the relative stability and band structure of various incommensurate phases in the cuprates. Our findings obtained in the Hubbard model with next-nearest neighbor hopping −t/t ≃ 0.15, as appropriate for the La2−xSrxCuO4 family, support the formation of diagonal (vertical) stripe phases in the doping regime x = 1/1...

Competing phases in the extended U-V-J Hubbard model near the Van Hove fillings

The phase diagram of the two-dimensional extended one-band U-V-J Hubbard model is considered within a mean-field approximation and twoand many-patch renormalization-group ~RG! approaches near the Van Hove band fillings. At small t8 and J.0, mean-field and many-patch RG approaches give similar results for the leading spin-density-wave ~SDW! instability, while the two-patch RG approach that predi...

2 Competing phases in the extended U - V - J Hubbard model near the van Hove fillings

The phase diagram of the two-dimensional extended one-band U-V-J Hub-bard model is considered within a mean-field approximation and two-and many-patch renormalization group (RG) approaches near the van Hove band fillings. At small t ′ and J > 0 mean-field and many-patch RG approaches give similar results for the leading spin-density-wave (SDW) instability, while the two-patch RG approach, which...
